Hello! I’m Luna!

I am a female Labrador X Beagle am 20 months old as I was born on 24/10/24 and am a large black dog.

II did have an abcess on my ear but it was treated with antibiotics and I’ve had no further trouble and am fit and well. I’ve been spayed and I’m up to date  with my vaccinations and worm and flea treatments. I eat complete dry food with meat and don’t like meat in gravy

I’m looking for a new home because I jumped up and bit somebody when out. I become over-excited and over-stimulated and it was a one-off but my owners have a 4 year-old child and felt they could no longer trust me. A complaint was made about me and my family was visited by the police but they could see that I’m not an aggressive dog but needed better control when out, so my owners just received a warning. .

I’m a loving dog, only barking when I hear noises, such as somebody at the door. I’ve lived with two childen of 4 and 14 years and was good with them. I’ve not lived with another dog and have had no problem mixing with them. I lived with 2 cats but didn’t like them.

Additional Information

There has been one incident of aggression when I recently jumped up and bit someone. I’d not done it before or since. I have no food aggression, am good in boarding kennels and at the vets but may bark at other dogs in the surgery and have never been to a groomer. I’m house-trained and can safely be left for a few hours and slept on my bed, caged or on the sofa. I travel well in the car, pull on the lead, haven’t been off the lead so my recall is untested. I love my toys, especially tennis balls, but also like to chew them. Staff at the Ark have been monitoring my behaviour since I arrived and I am reactive to other dogs but not people and, with training, I am imprtoving. I need an experienced owner who knows how to keep me calm in public places and prevernt me from getting over-excited and over-stimulated by my surroundings. In view of my history I shouldn’t live with children and should also be an only pet.

*Luna was rehomed but, unfortunately was returned after she’d attacked another dog that was temporarily staying in her new home. She’s a delight with people but MUST go where there are no other dogs living there or visiting. Ideally, a rural home where she’s less likely to run into other dogs and where there’s more opportunity for plenty of the exercise she needs.
