Sponsor an Animal
The Ark does not just take in rescue dogs for re-homing, but also elderly or sick dogs come to us for retirement. These dogs come because they are old and their owner has died, because they have developed a medical condition with which their owner is unable to cope or afford or because they have difficulty managing behavioural problems. These animals tend to be difficult or even impossible for us to re-home, as such they will stay with us for the rest of their lives.
Every one of the dogs has as roomy and comfortable accommodation as we can manage, plenty of exercise and lots of love and attention as well as whatever veterinary treatment they might need. We never skimp on their care in any way and always have their best interests at heart. They are, of course, a high maintenance group both in time, resources and money and it is for this reason that they can be sponsored for a small monthly sum to help us meet those costs. Our sponsors range from individual children, children’s and youth groups, couples and single people to elderly people who feel they can no longer own a pet of their own. It’s an ideal way to have a special animal without the responsibilities of ownership and to teach the young a respect of animals and a concern for their welfare.
Animals Available for Sponsorship
You can view the various animals we have available for adoption on the Permanent Residents and Equine Residents pages. If you decide you want to sponsor an animal you can download, print off and complete the standing order form which you can send to your bank which will let them know where to send the money each month. If you set up a standing order let us know by filling in and returning the Sponsor form because we like to send all our sponsors a card containing photos and the history of their chosen animal, a photograph, a certificate and a thank you from the Ark manager. There is also a key fob with the animal’s picture for child sponsors, so please let us know if it’s a present for a child.
