I am a 21 year old 13.2hh part bred Connemara pony.
I have only recently moved in at The Ark, but I am definitely settled now and much more confident in my surroundings. In my first couple of weeks I was quite shy and was unsure about my adoptive human family. However, after getting to know them, I now feel much more comfortable and my cheeky personality is starting to shine through.![]()
I like to follow and watch my humans while they are doing yard jobs, I try to figure them out this way. I wonder why they are cleaning up all that poo??? Who knows… but I find it fascinating! I especially like the part when they bring me fresh hay. ![]()
I am clumsy and often knock over mugs and snacks in the coffee area. I promise it was an accident! ![]()
Unfortunately I am prone to laminitis and have suffered with it chronically in the past. This meant that my new family at The Ark were unsure of my future when I first arrived. After X-rays, it was confirmed that I have severe pedal bone rotation in my front feet. That explains the pain I was in! Luckily the vets and my humans decided it wasn’t my time yet and I now have corrective shoeing and a new lease of life. I like to go on the sand area because it’s nice and soft on my feet. My humans manage my grass intake to make sure I don’t get laminitis again. Due to my more complex health needs, I am not available for rehoming. I will live out my retirement here at The Ark. ![]()
I am still making new friends, but I can be shy with other horses. Java, who I arrived with, soon forgot about me for his new girlfriend. I’m sure I’ll get there though, I just need time to adapt to new things.
Love from Andy. ![]()
