Meet Dilly!
DILLY’S STORY
Two year old Dilly came to the Ark with her feral mum and younger siblings in 2023. All the younger kittens were tamed and rehomed but Dilly and her mum Bobbi were released on site. Bobbi stuck around for a short while but chose to go and live her life as it’s always been, a proper roaming feral. Dilly, however, chose to stay but has never quite let go of her feral instincts and although she is a sweet, quiet girl, strokes are still off limits. She trusts us enough to give us a little friendly nudge now and again so you never know, in the future she might warm to some human affection, but for now she loves her life amongst her cat garden friends and has a close bond with Ollie.
Dilly often likes to go off into the surrounding fields to explore but she always comes back for mealtimes. She has claimed a high bed near the window in the log cabin as hers but does share with her friends if they want to chill with her. She’s quite playful when the mood takes her and will investigate toys, especially those with cat nip.
She was really taken with Ollie and was always happy to see him; the pair rubbed heads and booped noses. Ollie would often go walking in the fields with her and you’d just see their tails swaying through the crops as they explored; it really wass a beautiful friendship they had which sadly came to an end when Ollie sadly died. She’s now struck up a friendship with Percy, the only cat he seems to get on with and she knows exactly how to handle him!
Ultimately, Dilly has a feral nature and we wouldn’t be doing her any justice trying to domesticate her and putting her into a home environment which she has never known in her life. She is a beautiful free spirit who likes us all a little and loves the Ark life a lot, so we’ll happily continue to be here for her on her terms.
