Hi, I’m Java!

I am a 13.2hh Exmoor pony, and 22 years old.

I am relatively new at The Ark, and have settled in brilliantly. Did I mention, I’m blind? Although I can’t see, this does not affect me too badly. I am confident in my surroundings and with my new friends. My human family always tell me how clever I am, I actually can be a bit cheeky and bargy at times. My family said they are going to help me work on my manners.

My other senses are amazing, I know where you are around me, despite not being able to see you. When I first arrived, I was with my friend Andy, who I had lived with for many many years. But when I first met Annie at my new home it was love at first sight. Me and Annie are both blind, and somehow we gravitated towards each other. My humans think this is amazing, and can’t believe how quickly we fell in love! I have also made lots of other friends; you could say I am popular with the ladies!

My health is great, but I do suffer from uveitis. I have to wear a special mask to protect my eyes from the sun when it is bright out. It’s like wearing sunglasses. I have lots to learn still but my improvement since being at The Ark is amazing! It is hard to learn when you can’t see in a completely new environment but I am getting there.
