Meet Jeff & Ethel!
JEFF & ETHEL’S STORY
Meet our latest permanent residents. Jeff was found running all alone along a main road in Lincolnshire one Sunday in May, presumed to have falled off a pig lorry. He was only about 2-3 weeks old at the time so very small and frightened. A lovely couple rescued him and tried everywhere they could think of to take him but nobody wanted to know until, in desperation, they tried the Ark. So he came to us
He was so small that he was put in a playpen in a spare room in the house at first to isolate him and then moved into a proper pen in the garden. He was very curious and made friends with Ark cats and his adoration of Sue’s German Shepherd, Pilot, is mutual. We couldn’t leave him all on his own without another piglet for company and have managed to find Ethel to join him. All correct paperwork and herd numbers are in place.
Jeff and Ethel hit it off straight away. They’re now in a proper enclosure on the site and are loving it. Jeff has been castrated to make sure there’ll be no more piglets!
UPDATE: look how they’ve grown now! They very strong and boisterous and it frequently takes 2-3 members of staff to handle them. They’re sometimes let out at the back of the site (safely behind a gate!) and obviously fancy themselves as helpers on the site (see Ethel in the last picture).
