Hello! I’m Lilly! I’m Cat of the Month for July!

I’m a stunning short-haired, all-white female of 3 years. I’m fit and well, have just been spayed and am microchipped, worm and flea-treated and have tested negative for FIV and FELV, but am not vaccinated. I eat Whiskas in jelly plus Whiskas biscuits with my evening pouch. I had a difficult start in life. I was rescued by my recent family from a bad situation and, although they adored me, there were a couple of incidents with no obvious triggers when I lashed out and hurt my owner, which then led me to becoming unsettled around the other cats in the household. This meant i had to be kept separate and my owners became concerned that I wasn’t getting what I needed..

I arrived at the Ark stressed and on the defensive, understandably, so was given time to relax and familiarise myself  with my new surroundings. I quickly settled, picked up the routine and showed my carers my very sweet, gentle nature. To date, I’ve not shown any sudden aggression. I may give a warning hiss or grumble which is saying, “step back, I need space”. When having my suncream applied, I’ll hiss and grumble but havern’t lashed out. I’m told suncream is a must for me in the warmer weather and needs applying above my eyes and on my ears, so i have to put up with it. I crave attention and love to be stroked and fussed and am quite vocal for food and attention. I don’t mind being picked up but not for too long. I don’t like children, dogs or other cats and seem not to like toys bigger than myself.

Additional Information

I was dumped by my previous owners, who were then contacted by the vets and they didn’t want anything to do with me. I’d only been in my recent home for 2 months but it hadn’t worked out with the other cats in the home. There has been an incident of aggression thought to be over a large stuffed toy. I’m house-trained, use my litter tray very well and can be left for a normal working day. I slept on my own blanket in my owner’s bedroom. It’s unknown if I was used to going outside in my former home but had been kept inside in my recent one to monitor my eating to ensure I gained some weight.

New owners need to be mindful of the sudden outbursts Lilly has shown shown in her last home and therefore need to be able to read, understand and respect her warnings, so definitely an experienced cat owner is needed for her. She very much needs a quiet, relaxed home where she has someone around most of the day. A home with no children or other pets is a must due to possible surprise outbursts. We must stress she’s not an aggressive cat and we’ve not witnessed any unpredictable behaviour but new families have to be mindful of info from her previous home. All she really wants is someone to build a bond with her, adore her and spend time with her whilst giving her space and freedom to be herself. She’d love a safe garden to potter about in and explore. She’s young and curious so will need a good period settling into her new home before being allowed any outdoor adventures. She’s got lots of love to give, so if you arrange a meet and greet, you will be given a warm welcome.
