Hello! I’m Milly!

I’m a short-haired black and white female of approx 1 year. I’m fit and well, was spayed and microchipped on 15th September, am up to date with flea and worm treatments but am not vaccinated. I had 5 kittens around early July, had been having some diarrhoea prior to admission (now cleared up) and was underweight. I’d probably never seen a vet prior to coming to the Ark. I’m eating Whiskas or Felix in jelly and enjoy biscuits and treats.

I was brought to Lincolnshire from Yorkshire. My living conditions in my previous home were poor with multiple children and cats and there wasn’t always enough food or love for me. Unfortunately, I got pregnant but, despite a home who didn’t care for me and with only limited food for myself , I raised my 5 beautiful kittens before a kind person came along, rescued us all and brought us safely to the Ark.

I was fiercely protective of my kittens on admission, who were around 4 weeks old but, as the days passed and I got myself regular meals and a cosy spot to rest and be safe with my little ones, I began to relax and showed staff my lovely little nature. I’m a cheeky, loving, vocal young lady who laps up attention and loves, always pleased to see staff and will happily give you a little nose boop whilst purring my contentment. I’ve also started to show interest in cat nip toys so clearly have a playful nature waiting to come out with encouragement. Although I enjoy and seek love and affection, if I feel uncomfortable, scared or just had enough of being stroked, I will vocalise my annoyance and try and nip. I am very clear when enough is enough; with space and patience though I soon come round and these moments of sass are few and far between now. I like people once I trust them and may well be fine with cat-savvy teenagers. I dislike other cats in the cattery, get spooked a little by loud noises or sudden movements, likely due to the children in my former home not being kind to me and my kittens, so I’ll be wary of new sights and sounds in a new home and definitely won’t be happy living with young children. I also seem to be scared of men.

Additional Information

I need a calm and quiet home with a family who will get to know me at my pace and respect me when I give off my “ back off, space needed” warnings. I will possibly accept older cat savvy teens who will respect me and my needs but definitely no younger children! I must be an only pet; just seeing other cats from my pen puts me on edge and I’ll hiss and growl. Dogs are likely to be scary for me too. I really need a home I can call my own after living somewhere where I didn’t matter and food wasn’t always available. I shouldn’t be made to share my shot at happiness now! I will need a safe garden area so I can enjoy both indoors and outdoors at my leisure. I use my litter tray well. I really deserve the chance to just be myself now and have all the attention on me. I’m such a beautiful, fussy little one, I will make a fabulous little friend. If you can offer me the home I need, please get in touch as I’d love to meet you and start a new life after such a difficult start.
