Meet Shrek & Fiona!
SHREK & FIONA’S STORY
Fiona was only a baby when she was brought into a house from the garden in the mouth of the family dog in the summer of 2020. She was injured and brought to the Ark to be looked after until she was recovered. Once she was old enough and fit enough to look after herself she couldn’t be returned to the outside world as she was already too used to human contact to survive. Shrek came in during the same year and needed a friend, so the two rabbits were put together for company. Of course, both had been neutered!
They weren’t madly in loved but rubbed along ok together and are getting along better as time goes on. They live indoors in the cattery during the winter months where they have a hutch and run. But during the warmer months they now have a large enclosure of their own outside with a shed, large run, toys and various activities to keep them occupied. Dig boxes have been added recently and Fiona in particular loves them and is regularly seen digging away and then running around. Shrek is more chilled and, although he likes the boxes, is often laid out relaxing , particularly if it’s sunny.
Shrek looks out for Fiona and they are now sometimes seen cuddling up together. It’s been a relationship that’s grown over time and we think they’d be unhappy now if separated. So the Ark will be their home for the rest of their lives.
